Course Description

Adventure Gap: addressing racial disparities that cause minority populations to be much less likely to seek recreation, adventure, and solace in our wilderness spaces. Come climb with COE and take part in the Cornell climbing community! In this special section of Basic Rock Climbing we will introduce you to rock climbing movement and techniques, belaying, equipment, knots, rappelling, and safety at the Lindseth Climbing Center. In addition, we will explore identity, community, and belonging in the outdoors. Courses ensure a high degree of individual and supportive attention. Graduates of this course will build a solid foundation of skills to support future adventures in the vertical world.
Fees Course fee: $325 for instruction. Course fee includes climbing pass and free gear rentals for the semester, which begins on the first day of class.

Satisfies Requirement Satisfies one PE requirement if taken as PE. First two classes are required, students can miss one class and still receive PE credit.

Instruction Mode: In Person
Course fee: $325. Come climb with Cornell Outdoor Education (COE) and take part in the Cornell climbing community! We will introduce you to rock climbing movement and techniques, belaying, equipment, knots, rappelling, and safety at the Lindseth Climbing Center. No previous experience necessary!
Drop Deadline: Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Students will be responsible for the course fee and assessed a $50 administrative fee if they do not drop by the deadline.
